In Bangladesh; ensuring health services for the rural people is a big challenge as there are badly crisis of trained health service providers. The community people are deprived of proper health services and suffering from deadly diseases a lot. Healthcare professionals like doctors and nurses (literate and skilled personnel) do not choose to live and work in rural areas of Sunamganj. Doctors are sparse even in the district town of Sunamganj. Given the terrain where physical communication is very difficult, people often have to spend days to reach the nearest health facilities of the government.
Moreover, private health care sector did not come up as required, as investment is doubtful because of low economic condition of the people and difficult geographic condition. In this context, Sancred Welfare Foundation (SWF) have created a community-friendly environment and opportunities to have quality health services(Including ANC PNC) by trained and graduate doctors with a minimum cost. They arrange satellite and medical camps time to time at the grassroots levels where community people never can see graduate doctors. Besides; a group of traditional health service providers who have received advance trainings from Sancred hospital as well as others projects of sancred Welfare Foundation(SWF) are providing services effectively from door to door with the support and inspiration of peoples’ organizations and getting good earnings. In these ways, peoples’ organizations are playing a pro-active role for ensuring minimum health services at the doors.
Besides, Water and sanitation situation is most deplorable, they suffer high from safe potable water, and most of them are depending on contaminated surface water. Sancred Welfare Foundation working with them for safe water, diarrhea prevention, adolescent health, menstrual hygiene, hygienic latrine through REECAL 2021 Project.
